Congratulations! You've created your account, set up your child's profile, and chosen a plan. Now you're ready for the most exciting part — your first AI tutoring session. This guide will ensure you and your child have a fantastic first experience.
Before You Begin

Check Your Microphone
Your child will talk to their AI tutor using their device's microphone. Before the first session:
Make sure your browser has microphone permission enabled for myedi.aiTest that the mic picks up your child's voice clearlyIf using a tablet, position it so your child can speak naturally without leaning inClose other apps that might be using the microphone

Preparing Your Child
Explain to your child:
What it is: A friendly AI tutor they'll talk to — like having a smart helper who listens and respondsHow it works: They speak naturally, and the tutor speaks back. There's also a drawing canvas, videos, and quizzesHow long: Sessions are 25 minutes by default (you can change this in Settings)The key rule: There are no wrong answers! Saying "I don't know" is perfectly fine — the tutor will helpUnsupported block type: callout

Live Transcript
Tap the transcript icon to see a real-time text version of the conversation. This is useful if your child missed something the tutor said.
XP and Gamification
Your child earns XP (experience points) during the session for answering questions and engaging with the tutor. The XP counter appears as an amber badge — a great motivator!
Your Role as a Parent
During the Session
Stay nearby for the first session, but let your child lead the conversationDon't intervene unless they're stuck on something technical (like a microphone issue)Observe their reactions — are they engaged? Confused? Having fun? When to Step In
Technical problems — microphone not working, browser issues, poor connectionFrustration — if your child is getting upset, suggest they tell the tutor "can we try something easier?"Break needed — the session timer counts down automatically, but you can end early if neededEnding the Session
Click the "End Session" button (red, with a stop icon) in the top bar. A confirmation dialog appears, followed by a summary screen showing:
XP earned during the sessionOption to "Go to Dashboard" or "Start New Session"

First-Run Walkthrough
The very first time your child enters the workspace, an interactive walkthrough automatically appears. It highlights key parts of the interface with spotlight tooltips — showing where to start a session, how to use the tool panels, and how to toggle the workspace. You can skip it, but we recommend letting it play through.
After the Session
Check the Parent Dashboard
Navigate to the Dashboard (accessible from the main menu) to see how the session went. Each child has a card showing:
XP total and day streak countBadges earnedSessions this week and total timeLast session date
